We Provide a Range of Supports to Help People Improve their Employment Prospects

Employment Supports from Buíon:

We deliver programmes and services that support people to improve their chances of getting a job through tailored career guidance and planning, training, CV preparation, job search mentoring and employer liaison.

Our programme staff work together to ensure that we provide the best possible wrap around supports depending on your individual needs,whether you are referred to us by Intreo, you are a refugee or migrant, an early school leaver or a person with a disability.

SICAP Employment Supports (Social Inclusion & Community Activation Programme):

When you contact Buíon/SICAP a staff member will meet with you to discuss your needs and how they can support you on your employment journey. This could be access to essential training such as developing your CV, job search & interview skills, Safe Pass, Manual Handling & HCAAP courses, grant aid to fund a specific employment related course or career planning assistance. We will continue to meet with you to support your progression to employment and/or refer you on to other services.

LAES & Intreo Supports
(Local Area Employment Service):

We provide free supportive and confidential services to jobseekers in Waterford City that are referred by Intreo. When you attend the service you will be assigned a Case Worker who will assist you to develop a career plan and will be there to support you. We partner with other Buíon services to deliver holistic supports to meet the needs of people that are referred to us.

This service operates in partnership with Waterford & South Tipperary Local Area Employment Service, Waterford Leader Partnership and South Tipperary Development Company.

Employment Supports to People with a Disability:

The primary purpose of the Workability Immersion Programme is to help people with disabilities to access employment, including self-employment, or education and training, improving their employment prospects.

The Immersion Programme incorporates a strong focus on employer engagement; raising employers' awareness and building their capacity to recruit, retain and progress people with disabilities in their workforce. Eligibility for the WorkAbility Programme requires individuals to self-identify as having a disability under Irish legislation, be aged 16 or older with no upper age limit.

Tús Work Placement Programme:

Our Tús programme provides opportunities for you to improve your workreadiness offering opportunities to experience different workenvironments and providing employment related experience.

Tús is a national initiative for people who are unemployed and on the LiveRegister. The aim of the initiative is to provide short-term, quality, and suitable working opportunities for people in community and voluntary organisations.

Participants on the Tus Scheme are sourced by the Department of Social Protection and must be:

  • Continuously unemployed for at least 12 months
  • Signing on, on a full-time basis
  • In receipt of Jobseekers Benefit or Jobseekers Allowance.
