Climate Action & Sustainability
Buíon Phort Láirge supports local community groups across Waterford City & County to develop services and facilities that build inclusive and sustainable communities.
Repair Café Waterford:
We have organised a Repair Cafe in the Manor St.John Community Centre the second Saturday of every month since May 2025 in collaboration with the Larchville & Lisduggan Residents Association.
We also work with other community organisations and with Waterford Library Services to deliver pop up Repair Cafes at different venues across the City and County.

Community Energy:
Community Sustainable Energy Supports
Buíon Phort Láirge Community Sustainable Energy Worker supports individuals, families, and community groups across Waterford City & County to reduce energy costs, improve home energy efficiency, and to access information on practical energy supports and grants.
Through workshops, drop-in clinics, and community outreach, we provide practical guidance on reducing household energy use, understanding utility bills and tariffs, accessing SEAI grants, and improving comfort in the home.
Supports include:
- Practical Energy Saving Workshops
- Follow up drop-in clinics providing individual support with energy bills, switching provider, understanding utility bills and tariffs
- Warmer Homes Scheme information and application support
- BER awareness sessions
- Tailored energy awareness programmes for groups.
These supports promote greater awareness of energy efficiency, encourage more sustainable energy use, and help communities play an active role in climate action while reducing household energy costs.
